Seven thirty 🕢.
It must be a rough week for everybody, while things are going relatively good for me, so I feel rather thoughtless for that. I’m thinking about picking up Native Son again and reading to the end to see how the existentialist themes are carried out. The book is really pretty good, though violent and extreme, with a gruesome manslaughter and its consequences… I wish I had something more cheerful to say. The trip to the store today was average and pretty dull, but then no news is good news. There’s a lull in the rain, to be broken later this morning. People are incommunicado, so I don’t know what to say.
Hey you, don’t tell me there’s no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fallÂ
I’d encourage you to finish Native Son–although it is very intense. When I read it, I appreciated its complexity. There are no simple or clear answers to the issues it raises.
